Whilst completing the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Course, Debbie was fortunate enough to meet a group of local business owners managing other successful businesses. Post-graduation, the group of the GS10K alumni continue to meet on a regular basis to share ideas and support with the intricacies of nurturing a growing business.
Recognising that all businesses need a great team to progress and develop further, five of the alumni group took advantage of a Future Leaders Course offered by Leeds University and held in the training centre of our head office by introducing some of their members of staff to the concept. SG&A was represented by Sarah Dorling, Liam Sherar and Rich Marsh.
The course gave the attendees an insight into various aspects of managing a business with a network of local, like-minded prospective future leaders from a diverse range of commerce and industry and an opportunity to share ideas and common challenges faced at senior management level.
The course took place over ten weeks; a combination of three days attendance on site and discussion forum sessions by skype. The course culminated in presentations from each of the five business teams illuminating their ideas for continued growth and development for each of the organisations. The business owners were in attendance for this and were suitably impressed with the investment they had made in the course and the results of their individual and combined team efforts.
Our thanks to the team from Leeds University – the course tutors, Professor Sarah Underwood, Jonathan Lawson and Anne Salisbury, course organiser.
